Board Announces Appointment of New CEO, Michael Makosky
Dec. 12, 2010 — Ida Chavez, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Cibola General Hospital, announces that Michael (Mike) Makosky has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cibola General Hospital, Inc., effective immediately.
Makosky possesses over 20 years experience in the healthcare field and has served as Administrator at Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, West Virginia, and Interim Administrator at Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty, Texas. During this time he has lead the efforts toward a successful conversion to a Critical Access Hospital, recruited several physicians, helped coordinate the financing, design and occupancy of a replacement hospital building and directed hospital-wide performance improvement.
Makosky has been serving as Interim CEO at Cibola General Hospital (CGH) since October 2010. His focus while at CGH will be on physician recruitment, constructing the Medical Office Building and continuing to provide quality care. About his appointment Makosky stated, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve Cibola County and its residents as CEO of Cibola General Hospital. During my few months here I have learned of the needs of the community and look forward to continuing to provide the best possible care to the residents. ”
Chavez stated, “ The Board is very pleased to have Mike accept the position as CEO. During his time here he has shown a level of expertise and leadership which will be a valuable asset as we move forward. His responsibility lies with ensuring that the staff, physicians and other health care providers have the resources they need to provide excellent care to the patients using the services of Cibola General Hospital.”
