Visiting Hours
Cibola General Hospital fully understands that the support of family members, loved ones, and friends plays a key role in the recovery process of patients. All family members are welcome to visit patients at Cibola General Hospital.

General Visitation hours, when the main hospital doors are open to receive visitors, are from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, visitors are asked to enter through the Emergency Room area and check in with the admission staff in that area.
  • Emergency Room – Visitors will be limited to the primary waiting areas, with the exception of 1–2 family members/friends, at the determination by the ER staff and the family. Visitors may be asked to leave the room while staff provides care or if the presence of visitors is disruptive to the delivery of care to the patient or the safety of the patient. Children are generally not allowed in the ER rooms where care is being provided.
  • Labor and Delivery – Visitors will be allowed in the Labor/Delivery rooms. At the time of admission, staff will discuss with the patient her desires about visitors during her labor and delivery. The wishes of the patient will be adhered to per our general policy of visitors not being a disruption to the care of the patient or safety of the care being given.
  • ICU – Visitors in this area are generally limited to 1–2 family members/friends at a time. The time a visitor is able to visit with a patient is based on the condition of the patient. Visitors may be asked to leave the room while staff provides care or if the presence of visitors is disruptive to the delivery of care or the safety of the patient. If the family wants children to visit a patient in the ICU, their visit needs to be planned with the nurse caring for the patient prior to the visit. The ICU will be closed to visitors during shift change.
  • Out-patient surgery – Two family members of those patients going to surgery will be permitted to see patients before their surgical procedure regardless of time of day. Family remaining at the hospital during surgery are encouraged to wait in the OR lobby or front lobby. Children must be supervised by an adult and free of infection or disease.
  • Sleep Study Laboratory – Patients in the Sleep Study Lab under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the procedure.

Number of Visitors per Room
Although the number of visitors per room is not restricted, it is our goal to provide a restful environment for all of our patients. Visitors may be asked to leave the room while care is being provided to a patient or if the number of visitors in a room is determined to be distracting to the care of the patient in the room.

Children
Children are welcome to visit in the main visiting area and patient room areas of the hospital. Young children (grade school and below) are to be attended to by a family member at all times. If families are not able to supervise young children, they will be requested to not bring them to the hospital. For the safety of the children and others, families are asked to not allow children to sit on the floors.

Limiting Visitation
If a patient chooses to limit visitors, a sign designating such will be put on the door of the patient’s room directing visitors to check in at the nurse’s station regarding visitation.

Visitors Spending the Night with Patients
Visitors are welcome to spend the night at the hospital to be close to their loved one. If the patient is in a single room, a pull-out chair may be available for the family/friend. This policy includes a minor patient in the event of the birth of her baby. The family member/friend may not sleep in the same bed with the patient or in the unoccupied bed in the room. If the patient is not in a single room or the patient is in the ICU, the family/friend may spend the night in the waiting room. In the event a 24-hour caregiver is requested to remain with the patient, every effort will be made to ensure this happens. If the patient with the 24-hour caregiver is in an occupied semi-private room, the 24-hour caregiver will be asked to stay in the main lobby area and will be contacted to assist with care during the after-hours visitation period. Family/friends spending the night are asked to discuss this with the nurse caring for the patient. Every effort will be made to place patients in single rooms when family needs/wants to spend the night with the patient.

Parking
All parking at Cibola General Hospital is free. Visitors who arrive to see an inpatient will find the closest parking on the west side of the hospital. People who are visiting the hospital’s administrative offices or patients going to the Emergency department will find the most convenient parking in the front of the hospital or on its east side.

Family/Visitor Support
The charge nurse on the unit or the nurse caring for the patient has discretion to generally provide guest trays for a parent or person identified as a primary caregiver. Long-distance phone calls are advised to be made with a phone card or by placing a collect call.
